Visit of Dean FMS, BVU & IMED Faculty to School of Business and Economics, Linnaeus University, Sweden
Under the Linnaeus Palme Programme invitation was sent by School of Business and Economics, Linnaeus University , Sweden for undertaking joint project co-operation programme between the Linnaeus University and Bharati Vidyapeeth University’s Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship Development, Pune.
The visit was planned during 21st September 2015 to 28th September 2015.
Dr, Sachin. S. Vernekar, Dean, Faculty Management Studies, Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pune & Director , IMED along with Dr. Sankaye Bharatbhushan , Professor, IMED represented Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pune, IMED, Pune, INDIA.
The aim of this visit was:
- To discuss potential areas of future collaboration in regards to the funding in higher education programme.
- To plan and discuss programs focusing on teacher and student exchange.
- To plan and discuss to organize Joint International Conference between BVDU IMED Pune India and Linnaeus University at Vaxjo Sweden
The visit was sponsored under Linnaeus Palme Programme for the academic year 2015-16.

Various sessions and activities were conducted at the University during their 6 day visit. During one of the sessions , Dr Sachin S Vernkar gave the details about Bharati Vidyapeeth and BVDU, founder chancellor, Vice Chancellor and Secretary of Bharati Vidyapeeth. He shared the information about Vision and Mission of Bharati Vidyapeeth University and IMED programs run and its focus on teaching learning, research and extension. Also various counterparts from the University shared their program details. various initiatives and schemes undertaken by University . All the present faculty members were impressed and amazed with kind of program and activities initiated at Bharati Vidyapeeth University and IMED.

On 24th September 2015 a meeting was held with Dr Stephen Hwang Vice chancellor Linnaeus University who was towering personality in the LNU. He was greeted by Dr Sachin S Vernekar with Memento and folder containing information about Bharati Vidyapeeth, BVDU and IMED. Dr Sachin S Vernekar extended the greeting on behalf of Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shivajirao Kadam and gave invitation to visit Bharati Vidyapeeth Pune Campus. Dr Stephen Hwang reciprocated with his warm regards of our Vice chancellor and accepted to visit Bharati Vidyapeeth Campus. He was briefed with historical background of our University. Outcome of the Visit:

Last day was kept for summarizing the activities conducted during the week with Dr. Soniya Billore and Dr Anna Lindahl - Director of International Affairs, who are keep the track on various activities scheduled in future for next year. The program and subjects were finalized for faculty exchange and student exchange. Ground work for student exchange program for year 2017 were discussed and finalized during the meeting. We left Vaxjo on 27th September 2015 for Mumbai and reached Pune on 28th September 2015 at 1:00 pm.
It was very successful visit to Linnaeus University under the Linnaeus Palme project. Dr Anna Lindahl and Dr. Soniya Billore are visiting our campus in the month of November 2015 under the same project. We are looking forward for Teacher exchange, Student exchange , Joint research and conferences.
We are thankful to Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shivajirao Kadam for his guidance, direction and permission to visit Linnaeus University, Vaxjo, Sweden.

Industry Institute Partnership Summit is organized every year by Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship Development (IMED), Bharati Vidyapeeth University. It is an event in which the students and faculty members get a chance to interact with the corporate managers and academicians. People who are a part of the corporate share their experiences through this platform which motivates the students and gives them the required insights of the corporate world. IIPS has been held for the last 3 years by IMED. In total 300 companies has been a part of this grand event. This has resulted in enhancing placements from 30 percent in 2011-12 to 90 percent in 2014-15.
Under the guidance of Honourable Dr.Sachin S.Vernekar (Dean FMS Bharati Vidyapeeth University , and Director IMED) , IIPS 2015 was organized to recognize and felicitate around 60+ Corporate Managers and academicians by conferring on them awards for their contribution to the growth of the corporate and the academic institutions that they are working for. The event was held at Medical College Auditorium, Bharati Vidyapeeth Dhankawadi Educational Complex, Pune-Banglore Highway, Dhankawadi, Pune 411043. Awards have been installed in the following categories for this purpose.

The IIPS,2015 commenced with invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesha. This was followed by the inaugural ceremony in the presence of the dignitaries from the corporate world, the staff and students of the Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship Development. It was followed by a presentation on the journey of Bharati Vidyapeeth University and IMED right from inception till date.
The Honourable Chief Guest who graced the occasion with his presence was Mr. Kailash Katkar (MD & CEO, Quickheal Technologies Private Limited) and the Guest of Honour was Mr. Hemant Darbari (Executive Director, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing C-DAC).
The introductory speech was delivered by Dr.Sachin S.Vernekar who reached out to the audience conveying the intentions of having the Industry Institute Partnership Summit for the last couple of years. He also made a striking mention of the existing gaps between Industry expectations and the offerings of educational institutes and the way IMED is striving to fill the same. He also referred to IT as not merely being elaborated as Information technology but also as Inspiring Teachers. He mentioned about the various activities like the 70-30 (academia – industry) pattern, the rigorous feedback system and the alumni association activities to name a few. He gave a brief understanding of the essence of recognizing the value of entrepreneurs and corporate. His concluding remarks were all about the upcoming student and faculty exchange programme in Sweden to be held in September 2015.
Subsequently, the MBA placement brochures, MCA placement brochures, Innovative cell brochures and CSR cell brochures were released at the hands of Mr. Kailash Katkar and Mr. Hemant Darbari.
In the inaugural address one of the most interesting real life stories was shared by the chief guest Mr. Katkar in his address who initially stated about his journey right from repairing various machines to establishing a world renowned organization and one of the leading company in the field of Anti-virus software. He shared his experiences in screen painting, radio repairing technical work before establishing the organization. The company currently has 34 branches across India with their R&D centre based in Pune.
His address was followed by yet another eloquent talk by Mr. Darbari who made remarkable statements with regards to Digital Age generation. He also shared his interesting views on shift from industrial age to knowledge age. His concluding remarks about the benefits of technology integration left a very important question in the minds of the audience “can we exploit the habits of digital natives in learning new things?”
The speeches were followed by the award ceremony and the panel discussion. The most enthusiastic round of idea generation and idea sharing began with the Panel discussion session that ran into nearly an hour and a little more. Orientation Programme for MBA / MCA students
Six Days Orientation Programme was organized to address the new batch 2015-17 of MBA and MCA from 1st July to 7th July under guidance of Dr. Sachin S. Vernekar, Dean FMS Bharati Vidyapeeth University and Director IMED. The programme was organized to acquaint the students about University, Institute and details of programs opted by them as well as to give glimpses of corporate world.

Mr. Jaytilak Mujumdar, GM Sales, Bharati Airtel gave the success mantra to the students, “If you Dare to Dream, you Can Win.” He stressed upon support the actions with your words. He advised the students to choose the field of interest clearly and be passionate about whatever he or she is doing.

Dr Ujjal Bhattacharjee, Director (HR) GKN Sinter Metals India, alumni of IMED in his speech praised for the passion for education of Bharati Vidyapeeth as well as IMED. He assured the students about holistic approach to personality development is followed at IMED. He gave the mantra “Play to Win”.

The Director congratulated all the students for taking right decision to get admission in BV IMED. He explained the students various opportunities that would be provided by IMED for holistic development and the stress would be given on harnessing Emotional, Spiritual, Competitive Quotient and stressed upon the importance of developing Emotional Quotient among themselves. The session was full of vigor, enthusiasm and dynamism.

Dr Pawan Agarwal delivered a session on “Quality Maintenance in Supply Chain Management” with reference to Mumbai Dabbawala. He covered history of dabbawala highlighting examples how customer satisfaction is uppermost in their minds in performing their duties. He emphasized the value system followed by dabbawalas i.e. “Work is worship” and “Customer is God”. Dabbawala association, Mumbai has received six sigma, ISO certification. He discussed the importance of human values. He said that dabbawalas worked for customers and not for certification. The audience students were enthralled and held spellbound during the speech. It was followed by question answer session.

On the second day, Mr. Karan Bakshi, Senior Recruitment Specialist, TIBCO Software India was invited as a resource person. He gave practical tips to the students to get acquainted to the corporate world. He asked the students to set two goals short term and long term and to be focused on vision and mission. He stressed upon SWOT analysis and developing good network.
Ms. Rupa Pethe explained importance of soft skills through practical exercises.

On the third day of Induction Program, profiling was done as well as students gave presentations on industry and entrepreneurs.
The students were asked to give a 10 minutes presentation on an Industry or an Entrepreneur of their choice. The senior faculties later conducted a profiling session on various parameters.

BBA BCA Orientation Programme for the Batch 2015-17

To welcome BBA first year students to IMED, the induction programme of five days was conducted from 13th July to 17th July 2015.
All the five days had something different to offer to the newly admitted students regarding college, courses, corporates life as well as their schedule for the year.
The function was inaugurated on 13th July in presence of Honourable Dr. Sachin S. Vernekar, Director IMED, Dr. Anthony Rose, Dr. B. Sankaye, Dr. H. Abhayankar and Prof. Shivali Ingawale.
Five days of the programme were planned and implemented as-
Day 1- Introduction to college and the BBA course, student welfare, different CSR Activities of IMED.
Day 2- Guest lecture by Owner of Ranka Jwellers chain, Mr. Fateh Chand Ranka.He guided the students about entrepreneurship and his own life journey. After that Dr. Sachin S. Vernekar gave a motivational speech and told the students about the Success Mantras.
Day 3- This day was dedicated to hands on experience and thus students were taken for the industrial visits to five different industries to learn from observation.
Day 4-The students were made aware about their course and a detailed structure of the subject and their schedule for the year was shared with them.
Day 5- On the last day of induction Dr. Bhave& Dr. Pawankumar “Dabbawala” were invited as guests speakers, who guided the students and shared their experiences. Students were informed about how the Dabba System works in Mumbai which has got the six sigma award in the country.
The induction programme was made successful by the efforts of Faculty Co-ordinator Prof. Shivali Ingawale, Prof. Pramod Kadam, Prof. Sucheta Kanchi and Prof. Vijay Phalke along with the students of BBA 3rd Year.

National Symposia on Finance was organized on 7th August, 2015 on the theme “Emerging Trends in Finance for Sustainable Development”. The foremost rationale of organizing symposia was to provide Platform for corporate exposure to the students to bridge the gap between industry and institute and to get to know about the Emerging trends in finance to update with the career opportunities. MCA Program of BVDU IMED organised a National Seminar on the topic “Big Data and Analytics” on 14th march 2015. Seminar began with the key note speech delivered by Mr Sanjay Patwardhan (COE Head of Big Data, Cybage software) who enlightened the students with the concept of Big Data and how it provides a platform for an Enterprise. Mr Shri Ram Soni, who spoke about the Big Data Ecosystem. Mr Prasad Deshpande, Sr. Vice Precident Zensar guided students on career opportunities in the field of Big Data and Analytics. He explained various concepts and applications of Big data with various case studies and live examples. Mr Tanmay Deshpande (Sr. System Analyst, Symantec) gave the insights of Big Data and its tools. He also focused on Hadoop and Big Data. Many Research Papers were written by the Professors, research scholars and students on Big Data and its various applications.

Finance is the lifeblood of any business whether small scale or large scale. IMED has been conducting various events with a sole aim to give opportunity for students to showcase their talents and skills. One of such activities is IMED GEMS with an objective to encourage students to enhance and master their Management Skills and to trigger hidden skills and foster creativity. “Business Startups” Guest Session by Rohan Chhazed, Zoomcar, India Ltd
The city manager of Zoomcar Mr Rohan Chhazed and the marketing head of Zoomcar Mr Agam Garg had conducted a session on “Business Startups” at IMED for MBA students on July 30, 2015. They provided information on business strategies adopted by business startups in India. They provided a brief history of Zoomcar which started with just 7 cars and which has now grown to a fleet of 1500 cars. They mentioned about the marketing strategy, the sector they had targeted. Overall the students learnt about strategies utilized by new business startups.

On 8th Aug 2015 a guest lecture was conducted by Mr. Sailendra Behera It was a guest faculty invited by Dr. Anthony Rose, Professor. The lecture was conducted at 03:30 PM for the MBA IInd year students. The lecture begins with

Students got an opportunity to be addressed by him on the significant topic “Entrepreneurship”, as he himself is defined as the one of the successful entrepreneur. As he started his career after getting the mechanical engineering degree from the Pune University, as he was born in the family of entrepreneurs so it was in his blood to start of something of his own, apart from having is family business, he choose to setup his own small automotive components manufacturing unit in Chakan, Pune. He also focused about the importance of finance in the life of entrepreneur.He also mentioned that an entrepreneur should not only have the perfect domain knowledge about his industry but should also be aware about the happenings and movement around him as all the macro factors will affect his business activities. It was indeed a motivational talk for budding entrepreneurs.

The objective of the FDP was to create conceptual understanding of IPR and importance of IPR Management. Dr.Sarwate (Renowned Management Consultant), Dr.Gankar and Mr.Shrikant Pangarkar ( Chairman- IMCI, Pune Chapter ) were among the eminent guests who also attended FDP. She introduced the managerial aspects of IPR by explaining the design structure of IPR and how IPR can be utilized for the economic growth of the country. We can overcome infringement of IPR in India by creating awareness about IPR. She suggested that Industry as well as Educational Institutions should have their own IPR policy in place. During question/answer session she cleared many misconceptions about IPR.

From 3rd Aug to 8th Aug 2015, Management Development Program was organized. The resource person invited was Dr. Venkat Subramanian, Corporate Trainer, Maruti Honda. He focused on Leadership, Effective Communication and Personal Effectiveness. On 6th of august 2015, there was a seminar conducted for MBA (General) 1st Semester students division C. The seminar was conducted in order to enhance the communication skills of the students and prepare them to face the competitive scenario.
The whole session was divided into two sessions. Pre lunch session - In the pre lunch session we were told in the brief and precise definition of what is communication. Through various video clips (Video clip from the movie “MY FAIR LADY” for phonetics , Mr. Amitabh Bachhan’s movie for voice modulation , Charlie Chaplin’s movie and Mr.Bean’s for non verbal communication) Post lunch session In this post lunch session to make session more interactive he picked up various students randomly and asked them to introduce themselves. He even asked a group of students to enact a play in which they were allowed to only communicate through gestures.

On 1 st September, 2015 Orientation Programme for National Service Scheme was conducted by the NSS Volunteers of BBA-3 rd Year in the Seminar Hall. All the volunteers elected by the Interview process from each courses of I.M.E.D were the participants.
In the programme, the students were made aware of the basic concepts of NSS, its historical background, objectives, and the motto of NSS through presentations. The significance and meaning of the NSS logo was described and a complete detail about the various NSS activities and the different State Level, National Level and International Camps were given to the volunteers.
During the event, all the volunteers were given the Volunteers Work Diary of NSS, in which the entire detail about NSS is mentioned. Achievements and awards that the NSS volunteers of our college have won were also mentioned to them along with the videos of various activities organized by the NSS volunteers of I.M.E.D. The orientation was successfully concluded with NSS Song followed by the National Anthem.

To welcome the juniors, The senior students organised the fresher’s meet in the month of August 2015 at Sharao Lawns. This meet was more of an informal gathering to make the students feel at home and start the new phase of their life.
