Ph.D.

IMED is a recognized Research Center for the Ph.D Programme of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University). In all, there are 18 research guides (Management and Computer Applications) at the research center. The Ph.D Programm is conducted by strictly adhering to the rules and regulations laid down by the UGC regarding conduct of Ph.D Programm. Till now, more than 85 research scholars have been awarded their Ph.D. and almost 100 students are working for their doctorate degree under the different research guides.

Admission Process to Ph.D

The admissions to the Ph.D Programme are through the centralized admission procedure of the University. Advertisements are issued regarding the Ph.D Entrance Test through leading national newspapers and on website of the University. Entrance test and interviews are held to draw a final merit-list of the candidates selected for the Programme. The entire procedure is centralized and candidates are allotted to research guides through a committee appointed by the University, as per the vacancies indicated and the area of specialization of the candidates.

Details about presentations

As per the guidelines of UGC, every Ph.D candidate has to complete the Pre-Ph.D Coursework at the end of which the research topic is approved. The schedule of the Ph.D Progress Presentations is as follows and detailed expected contents can be found in the downloads section.

• First / Seminar II - Approval of topic (synopsis with extensive review of literature and research gaps

• Second– Review of Literature, Research Gaps, Final Objectives, Hypotheses, Research Meth. (outline)

• Third – Research Design, Questionnaire (tools) Approval, Matrix, Chapter scheme

• Fourth – Analysis & Findings, Rough Draft (Spiral Bound)

Joint Research Projects (JRP)

IMED is very proactive towards promotion of research among faculty and students of the institute. A novel idea of Joint Research Projects (JRP) has been introduced which encompasses joint research study by the faculty and student, based upon the summer internship projects carried out by the students. Most of the Summer industry projects focus on the industry study with less of research component. The Faculty Guides identify the summer internship projects having good research value and then together the faculty and the student convert the project into Joint Research Projects. This endeavour helps develop the research skills of the faculty and students alike. Some JRP are further converted into research papers are then considered for publication in research journals.

Anti-Plagiarism

The University as well as Institute is sensitive towards maintaining quality in all its research endeavours. For this, the Anti-Plagiarism software, namely, URKUND is being used since 2017. All Ph.D theses are screened for plagiarism through this software and similarity report generated, Similarity in content is permissible upto 10%. The research scholar revisits the report and clears wherever there seems to be higher side on Plagiarism.
